If you encounter a clogged pipe, what do you do? Usually, you flush water through it with full force to push the blockage away. If your nose is blocked, you blow it forcefully to clear your breath. At work, when employees disagree with company policies, they often approach the higher-ups as a group.
What do all these examples have in common? When a situation needs resolution, it often requires a gush of energy — a collective force strong enough to break the block and move things forward.
Years ago, within the Connect-Ticket group, there was a story that perfectly illustrated this power of group energy. This group was setup by a motley group of people in Mumbai in 2001 and has become a global support group since then. It’s still going strong!
Ok, back to the story. Jeff Kindred and his wife Fluffy, both fashion models (Jeff was also a martial artist), ran meditation classes for juvenile delinquents — young boys labeled ‘violent’ and under police supervision. These boys attended Jeff’s sessions before returning to detention.
Among them was a 12-year-old boy named Jo, who was rapidly transforming. Jo wanted to learn, to change. Yet, in a heartfelt chat with me, he confessed his pain: abandoned by his parents, feeling unloved by the world, embittered and distrustful of prayers and people alike.
I asked Jo to keep a journal of those he felt loved him. He named only two: Fluffy and Jeff.
Moved by his story, I proposed to the Connect-Ticket community that we flood Jo with love and support — a mission to pour so much positive energy into his life that it would transform him completely.
And that’s exactly what happened.
Group members wrote letters, sent gifts, and even children like Gouri, a 10-year-old member, rallied her schoolmates to make cards for Jo. The Kindreds delivered these tokens of love to Jo, creating a powerful influx of energy around him.
This surge of collective love changed Jo’s life. He began to believe in love, in prayers, and in humanity. He was released from juvenile detention ahead of schedule and went to live with his grandmother.
Tragically, months later, Jeff and Fluffy learned that Jo had been murdered. Why? Because Jo had started his own prayer group — gathering friends, reforming them, and building a makeshift temple with altars for daily prayers. But some of his former violent peers disapproved and ended his promising life.
This heartbreaking story is a profound example of the power of group energy — how collective intention and love can catalyze rapid transformation, even in the most challenging situations.
At the same time, it reminds us that energy can be fragile and sometimes opposed by resistance.
Harnessing the Power of Group Energy
You can use this understanding in your personal and social life. When many people come together with aligned intention, the resultant energy can:
- Clear blockages, like a clogged pipe.
- Uplift individual and collective consciousness.
- Solve problems that seem insurmountable.
- Create waves of healing and transformation.

Energy Exercise: Creating a Circle of Support
- Identify a challenge you or someone close to you is facing — big or small.
- Gather a group of people who genuinely care — family, friends, colleagues, or a community circle.
- Set a shared intention aloud or silently: to send positive energy, love, and support to resolve or ease the situation.
- Visualize a strong energy flow — like a river of light or warmth — moving from each person into the person or issue needing help.
- Commit to a daily or weekly energy check-in with this group to sustain the flow of support.
- Observe any shifts or changes in the energy or situation over time.
Energy is a living force — when aligned and focused by many hearts and minds, it becomes unstoppable. Just as the love that transformed little Jo, your collective energy can shift mountains.
